Panchayat bye-elections date announced

ITANAGAR, Jan 27: The State Election Commissioner Satya Gopal today announced the dates for bye elections to fill the casual vacancies of 8 Zilla Parishad Member, 13 Anchal Samiti Member and 114 Gram Panchayat Member seats in various districts of Arunachal Pradesh. The Election process begins with issue of notifications by Returning officers on 2nd February next and ends with the counting on March 5 next. All election process has to be completed before March 11.

Former cabinet minister Setong Sena passes away

ITANAGAR, Jan 27: Former Arunachal Pradesh cabinet minister and Legislative Assembly Speaker Setong Sena breathed his last at a private hospital in Assam's Dibrugarh district at around 11 pm on January 25 after brief illness. Sena was undergoing treatment at Aditya Hospital in Dibrugarh for the last few days. He was 54 and is survived by wife, one son and two daughters.
