ITANAGAR, June 27: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has distributed cheques to the students of registered
laborers of Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Constructions Workers
Welfare Board (APBOCWWB) pursuing medical and engineering courses under
the Board’s educational financial assistance in an impressive function at his
office premises here yesterday.
Handing over the cheques to the
proud parents, Tuki appreciated APBOCWWB Chairman Nyamar Karbak for introducing
the scheme to extend financial assistance to the children of registered workers.
He hoped the initiative will give a great relief to the economically poor
parents and their children in pursing higher education.
The chief minister asked the
workers to register themselves with the Board and avail the benefits being
provided by the Board. He also directed Chief Secretary to direct all the
departments to comply with the Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare
Cess Act, 1996 and deposit 1% cess so that the amount collected can be used for
welfare of the workers.
Tuki also handed over cheques amounting to Rs 8, 82,000 as death and other
statutory benefits to more than 114 beneficiaries.

Sarkar highlighted about the Board and benefits being provided by it to its
registered workers.
The recipients of the financial
assistance are Bengia Taha and Tamchi Posi from Koloriang, Tagam Mara, Tage
Yama and Yage Timba from Daporijo, Moni Angu and Yaken Karlo from Aalo, Taj
Kimin from Ziro, Prakash Lama from Changlang, Avinash Panggam from Yingkiong
and Chera Bogi from Papum Pare.
The chief minister
also flagged off one ambulance each for R K Mission Hospital, Heema Hospital
and Women Police Station Itanagar. He also distributed school kits to the
orphanage schools.
