Over 9000 Arunachalees take part in Itanagar job-cum skill development fair

In all 9,012 Arunchalees out of a total 13,383 registered youth took part in a job fair-cum-skill development interview rally here.

About 12,007 were selected, and as many were selected by two or three of the total 28 vocational training providers, creating a new record.

Such initiatives by any state government, that too with the personal involvement of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, has never before been seen in any part of the country, said Kolkata and Guwahati -based Orion Edutech general manager Somnath Banerjee to the thunderous applause of the massive gathering.

"We have engaged over 70,000 in BPO, hospitality and retail, you could be the next. Wake up, walk with us till the goal is reached," he said with conviction.

This was the message from almost all VTP representatives.

Representatives most of the vocational training providers (VTPs) injected enthusiasm in the Arunachal GenNext, while International Institute of Wellness Studies CEO Manav Dhingra, whose institute has so far trained 200 Arunachalees with 90 per cent placement, charged the atmosphere with his Urdu couplets, saying "Arunachalees kisise kam nahin".

Delhi-based Amazing Networks Pvt Ltd MD Jitendra Singh Rajput went a step ahead by announcing plans to train 6,000 young men and women for only 35 days at his training institute at Yupia and get 100 per cent placement as private security guards (PSGs) through in-campus interview by companies that evoked a round of applause from the gathering.

Delhi-based Security and Intelligence Services India Ltd set up in 1984 has so far trained and employed over 70,000 PSGs throughout the country with guaranteed career, claimed its recruitment officer Mohammad Shahanshah.

Jatin Rai, Deputy General Manager of VLCC, which has so far trained and engaged over 50,000 people in the beauty sector through its 50 institutes and 300 centres since 1989, said: "You have the potential and once you decide to accept the profession, we would offer you a secured career."

Kolkata-base Emporium Training and Consultancy Pvt Ltd (ETCPL), which has been in the field of aviation, tourism, retail, hospitality and customer service sectors since 2007, is associated with Arunachal Pradesh for the last four years and 50 Arunachalees are undergoing degree course now, said its business development manager Anirban Mukherjee.

Guwahati-based H P Institute has trained over five lakh people in the insurance sector (with 100 per cent placement) and over 6,000 in health care, accounts and tally, tourism and travel and garment sectors at 110 locations in the north east region with 75-78 per cent placement record since 2002, said its director Pannalal Bhansali, who hails from Garo, Meghalaya.

Delhi-based Empower Pragati set up in 2010 with a capacity to monthly train 2,000 to 3,000 through its 800 centres across India has so far trained 30,000 and employed over 70 per cent in retail, supply chain management, banking services, hospitality, IT, home manager, beauty culture, BPO, health care etc., informed its project head Mohtashim Khan.

Delhi-based national Institute of Finance and Accounts, set up in 1996 has so far trained 1.5 lakh in its 70 centres, claimed its regional manager (Skills development) Rakhi Jain.

In his usual style, the CM asked the district-wise job seekers to stand up to make their presence felt before exhorting them to be mentally prepared to match their steps through this platform with the fast changing world.

"I want you to become good and independent human beings and contribute towards nation building," said Tuki, evoking loud applause.

A heavy downpour this afternoon could not dampen the spirit of the job seekers, who, armed with umbrellas, waited in a long queue for their turn.

IGTMS, IIWS, ETCPL and Orion Edutech stalls recorded highest number of job seekers.

"We began with a bang and the finishing line is highly satisfactory," Chief Secretary Hari Krishna and CM's principal adviser of skill development Sharada Prasad told the VTP representatives during the debriefing session.
