“State needs new direction on path to development”

Itanagar : Issues like ‘weakening’ law & order, health and education sectors, etc primarily figured in the discussion on motion of thanks of Governor’s address at the end of  three-day assembly session. The Government today sought whole-hearted support and cooperation from all members to give the State a new direction on the path to development.

Participating in the discussion, Home Minister Tanga Byaling told the members present that developing the State was the collective responsibility of all. All the members, irrespective of one’s party affiliation, need to work collectively to benefit the state. Seeking cooperation from all, Byaling said the existing law and order has to be enhanced and vigilance stepped up to restore peace and order in the State.

Education Minister Tapang Taloh said , “education being the backbone of development” will help in bringing change in the society and get rid of unemployment. Revolutionary steps have to be taken in the field of education. He added that it is necessary to retrospect instead of blaming one another in bringing about the much-needed change.  
Taking part in the debate, Leader of Opposition Tamiyo Taga pointed out the ‘deplorable’ financial health of state govt. and advised the govt. to be serious in this area. Talking about education sector, he suggested streamlining the system and a complete review of teachers’ recruitment policy for imparting quality education to children.
Earlier, Congress member Bamang Felix said that, members need to make up their minds to do the best for development of the State over the period of next five years. He also appreciated the Governor on his speech where the Governor has mentioned about zero tolerance in education and health sector, giving ‘power to people’, and ‘mission one lakh job’ which he said, will curb the social dissatisfaction in the state.
At the closing of the day’s session, Speaker Nabam Rebia, appreciated the members for their full cooperation in the smooth conduct of assembly proceedings.
